An Afternoon in Stockbridge

A few weeks ago we took a road trip pit-stop in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. I’ve been out in the Berkshires only twice, once for cross-country skiing in the middle of the winter, and for a James Taylor concert at Tanglewood. Both times driving through the surround area was a big lovely tease! After all these years of speeding through the Berkshires on our way to visit family, it was time to check it out.

The town of Stockbridge is a sleepy quasi-resort Americana town. Beyond the beautiful Berkshires, the area is best known for being the adult home of famous American Painter Norman Rockwell.

Window Shop Wednesday: A Retro Picnic

It’s Window Shop Wednesday again with The Katie Chronicles.

Instead of her normal routine, this week Katie has sent us on a special mission:

Think of your next big trip – a honeymoon, a business trip, a trip home for the holidays, an exotic vacation you’ve been lusting for since February. Think what you would love to get for that trip, and where you’d love to get it from…because everyone needs a little something new before they skip town… 🙂

– The Katie Chronicles

My next trip? Well, it just so happens we are taking a trip down to Long Island this weekend to see my in-laws! We have plans to go to a family reunion in Southampton and spend a day riding bikes on Shelter Island. Sign me up!

While I (sadly) won’t be buying any of these things for my trip, (things like countertops and sinks are higher up on our list right now) if I was to go on a magical shopping spree, I just might like to grab a few of these things for our trip:

I would love to purchase one of these wire bike baskets! I know it’s not the classic basketwoven kind, but this detaches, which would be mighty handy when going to the library, grocery store or beach. Plus, if your bike get’s left out in the rain, no harm done!
We would obviously be going on a bike-picnic, so I would like to bring a cute (unbreakable) melanine platter to put out our grapes and cheese.
Where did the food appear from? Obviously, I packed it nicely in these matching containers before we left the house.
I’d probably wear a cute sweater like this with comfy shorts. It’s light, but will keep me warm in the evenings. And it’s not too billowy for biking in. Plus it’s yellow. And we all know how much I love yellow.
To cut up our brie and apples and chocolate cake (apparently I brought loads of food on my bicycle with me. But this is imaginary, right?) I would use these adorable spreaders.
Lastly, I would drag along this record player because, what’s a summer picnic without flair?
Yup. I think some Glenn Miller would do the trick.
I feel like I’m on vacation already! Thanks Katie!

Windowshop Wednesday with The Katie Chronicles

My immensely talented and hilarious friend Katie, of The Katie Chronicles, is starting up a new Link Up series and I am happy to join her! Especially when the first topic is the droolworthy Crate & Barrel.

Here’s a fun fact about me and my girl Katie. We’ve never actually met in person! We became friends about two years over The Knot while we were planning our weddings and have been friends since!

Today our mission is to share our Crate & Barrel shopping wishlist:

Dear Cucina dining table,

You are so pretty. I love your taupe gray neutrality and your pretty crossed legs. You are a cross between a picnic table and a Parsons desk, rustic yet modern. I would like to own you, but paired with rustic espresso wood benches, not with the chairs shown.

Love, Kat

Dear Jack table lamp,

I love your squatty bulbous of the base and the geometric pendant shade. The song “Fat Bottom Girls” must be written about you. Except your name is Jack, and not Jill. My mistake. You do, however, make my rockin’ world go round and you would look great in any room!

Love, Kat

Dear Belize striped napkin ring,

I am officially twitter patted with you. I love your chunkiness and bright striped colors. You are friends with everybody. Cinco de Mayo party? Check. Summer Picnic? Check. Use it with white dishes? Check. Use it with green dishes? Check. The beauty of bright multi-colored things like you that most people don’t realize is that you go with everything! Please be my friend.

Love, Kat

Dear Table-in-a-bag, picnic chairs and Carmen picnic tablecloth,

Don’t tell the others, but you are my favorites.  I’d love to take you to concerts in the park or a picnic on the beach. Your sunset yellow cushions on the chairs scream summer and you are bringin’ down the funk with those sexy multi-color stripes.

Love, Kat

The thing I love most about window shopping is it’s free!

Thanks for the link up Katie!! Be sure to check out The Katie Chronicles today!
